About Us

The Calixte Antoine Kingdom was established during the time when Dr. Marjorie Calixte-Hallworth was conducting her research study titled “Barrier to Effective Public Secondary Education in Rural Areas in Haiti.” She came to the realization that many of us tend to take free public education for granted. In most rural areas of Haiti, private schools are the sole choice for education, as there are limited alternatives available.

Unfortunately, only a small number of families can afford even the most basic tuition fees. In rural communities, there are many children, youth, and young adults who possess a strong desire to learn and express their creativity. Unfortunately, these individuals often face significant challenges due to a lack of financial support from their families and limited resources within their communities. As a result, these young individuals are forced to remain at home and endure the negative consequences of their circumstances.

Many individuals who grow up in such circumstances often become a burden to society, perpetuating the cycle from one generation to the next. She was deeply moved by the experiences of children in rural areas who lacked the necessary resources to access education. She contacted her siblings and asked them to establish a foundation with the purpose of providing assistance. She suggested naming the organization after their parents (Jean (Véyé) Calixte and Imene Antoine-Calixte), as they have always encouraged them to engage in such charitable endeavors.

After brainstorming ideas, one of the siblings, who happens to be a theologian, expressed their perspective by adding the concept of Kingdom. They explained that whenever they think about Kingdom, it reminds them of the idea of access. He believes that the kingdom system is the sole solution capable of providing sustainable resolutions to any challenges one may encounter. This approach offers a fresh perspective on creating societal change and encourages innovative thinking. The Calixte Antoine Kingdom (CAK) was founded by a group of five siblings with the goal of making a positive impact on the lives of children in Haiti.
